I felt this pull to write but honestly, I have no idea what to say.
Today isn’t a good mental health day for me. I am feeling a lot of different emotions and none are positive.
I am primarily feelings… lost. Like I’m walking around my life aimlessly hoping to run into the thing that sets my heart and soul on fire. Looking around blindly for that thing that makes me feel ALIVE.
Right now I’m just feeling like a waste of air.
I just feel so ugh..
Here I am with another blessing of a day, I woke up another day and have air in my lungs for yet another day. Truly, what a hell of an opportunity but here I am just doing nothing with this opportunity.
I try and try every single damn day to figure out what is the thing for me but damn it, nothing. I’m stuck in between so deeply wanting to do something great with my life and fighting sadness to have the strength and find the motivation to leave my front door.
I guess I understand now why I was getting the pull to write. It isn’t because I have anything inspiring or positive to share but because we ALL have bad days. I guess this was my chance to be vulnerable and authentic with y’all.
Bad days don’t need something massive and traumatic to happen, they just creep in. Sometimes you can feel it approaching and other times you start crying because of a minor inconvenience.
We all have bad days. Writers, actors, singers, influencers, billionaires, everyone you see on IG smiling and all the people in between. Everyone has bad days and people may fake a smile or push through but we are all human. All of us. Please don’t compare yourself and your days to anyone else’s.
So, if you are having a bad day, find someone in your inner circle you can talk to and be real with or write until you’ve released all that’s in your heart.
3 Tricks to help put a quick smile on your face:
- Have a quick solo dance party – put on a song you love and go somewhere private: dance silly, get wild, get lost in the song. The weirder the dance, the better.
- Fake smile – for 10 seconds fake smile. The biggest smile you can do and count to 10 Mississippis (this one is my kid’s favorite)
- Dragon Roar Smile – Smile big, try to touch your chin with your tongue and exhale deep like a dragon. Repeat a few times.
I know that when you are not feeling your best it’s hard to find the motivation to even want to put a smile on your face but guess the truth for all of us is, either we stew in the shitty mood or we make minor effort to change it because at the end of the day, we have to live with our own emotions. It’s absolutely NO ONE’s job to make us feel better.
For me, just for today, I choose to stew in my shitty mood. Maybe later I will change my mind.
